MEANINGFUL LEARNING MODEL THROUGH CONTEXTUAL TEACHING AND LEARNING; THE IMPLEMENTATION IN ENGLISH SUBJECT

Teaching English in the Indonesian National Curriculum demands a change learning paradigm towards student-centered, participatory, and contextual learning. However, there are still many teachers who do not know true nature of Thus, it causes problems language teaching. This research aims at 1) determining process using meaningful through teaching learning, 2) improving student outcomes after being taught model. study was conducted eighth grade SMP Islam Pecangaan, Jepara regency which consisted 18 students one teacher. The design collaborative classroom action with two cycles, where each cycle consisting four steps; planning, acting, observing, reflecting. data were collected observation, interview test qualitative quantitative analysis. finding indicated that implementation model CTL could improve completeness from 44% first to 89% second cycle, carried out by aspects advance organizer, progressive differential, contextualization constructivism, development, evaluation, 3) cycle.
